Deer Season Is Here and So are the Deer on the Road

Hunting season means more deer moving at dawn and dusk, exactly when visibility is worst. Here's what your auto insurance actually does if you have a run-in with one:

🦌 Hitting a deer is a comprehensive claim, not a collision. Comprehensive coverage handles animal strikes, falling branches, hail, theft, and certain glass damage. Things you can't control.

🚗 Swerving to miss it? That's collision. If you swerve and hit a guardrail, ditch, or another vehicle, it's treated as a collision claim. Sometimes hitting the deer is the safer (and cheaper) outcome.

💸 Your deductible applies either way. Worth checking now whether yours is still an amount you could comfortably handle mid-season.

🧰 Extras worth confirming: towing or roadside assistance, rental reimbursement, and glass coverage. Small money now, big deal later.

Slow down at dawn and dusk, watch the shoulders, and remember: if you see one deer, more are usually close behind.

One honest note: liability-only policies won't pay to repair your own car after a deer strike. If that surprises you, let's talk before the season peaks.
